JOY IN LOCKDOWN
If there was ever a time for finding joy in the simple things, and appreciating life through a whole new lens, this is it. Let’s share our strategies and coping mechanisms for a joyful life in lockdown. As always, you can add your own below in the comments.
Lots of screen time for kids, trying to be less of a critic of myself. My son’s birthday was on Sunday and we had chicken nuggets and boxed mac n cheese - and didn't think twice! I am also listening to a pretty addicting audio book , "The Family Upstairs"....And lastly, I recently invested in a water pic and my teeth have never felt cleaner...OMG i can't believe I am disclosing all this non-sense...but what I have appreciated during this time is the realness that people are exposing. We aren't alone! - Megan in Orinda
I light candles every night and watch Handmaids Tale - I look forward to it all day long. - Lauren in Oakland
I’m trying to do daily exercise to keep myself sane. And epsom bath every night! - Leigh in Orinda
I have a standing phone date at 7pm every night with my best friend - we both have a glass of wine and talk about a book we’re reading at the same time. - Joan in Lafayette
I’m finding joy in coming back to cooking slow food - I'm creating meals with whatever ingredients that I have, and taking my time. This is often done with a few glasses of zinfandel. - Kate in Sausalito
Having a redbull and watermelon blended drink each afternoon and taking at least one bath a day. - Jami in Orinda
Coffee!- Wine nightly- Himalayan Salt Baths- Sleeping in- Pancakes every morning- Long walks - Homemade cookies - Time to actually stop and listen to my kids! - Sondra in Orinda
The kids and I ordered a huge bag of embroidery floss and have been making friendship bracelets to deliver to friends. We’ve also been baking (and eating) a lot of sweets. I’m also using this time to catch up on Goop podcasts that I love. I’m also LOVING all the funny memes going around - not to take away from the seriousness of the situation, but it so, so nice to be able to laugh and pass them around with friends. - Trudi in Orinda
I gave my girls the night to make a meal and they planned an amazing themed dinner! I was so proud of them and they loved it too! We finished with a fun card game and movie :) - Tammy in Orinda
Juicing everyday is bringing me a sense of control for keeping my family healthy. Trying to include a cooked veggie in the evening meals too! Our sweet tooths are thriving so we are going with it and enjoying dessert every other night :) - Kim in Orinda
