Kerenkali Waterfall Canyoning Trips - Repell off 70 ft waterfalls, jump and slide off waterfalls all day hike in northern Bali. My favorite outdoor activity in Bali.

Nusa Penida. It is known as the black magic island - super raw and beautiful. It’s become more popuar because of Instagram. There is a beautiful cave temple, Giri Putri, on the island. Alice in Wonderland-like hole in a rock opening you crawl into and it opens up to a MASSIVE cavern. At the sacred temple, a priest will give you a Tridatu yarn bracelet which is consist by 3 yarns colored red, black and white. Etymologic Tridatu comes from 2 words, “Tri” mean Three and “Datu” mean King. The red element symbolizes creativity and bravely, the black element symbolizes the powerful and protects us from bad spirit and white element symbolizes spirituality and goodness. Tie it on and wear it until it falls off.

MISCELLANY

Best holiday: Nyepi - day of silence in Bali. It is Balinese new year and a time of meditation and reflection. The whole island of 4 million people shuts down for 24 hours. No flights, no cars, no wifi, people aren’t allowed on the street, so the bad spirits don’t see anyone and will bypass the island. The night before, there are parade celebrations in the villages the night before. Locals build floats of Ogoh-Ogohs (like Where the Wild Things Are monsters). They symbolize negative or malevolent spirits. After the parade, they burn them. - Chrissie in Bali
